Lucy, Human, Chimpanzee In Stock Now

Do you love Lucy? We do, too! Use this kit with your students to discover the similarities and differences between modern humans, chimpanzees, and Australopithecus afarensis, or “Lucy.” See if your students can determine which species—A. afarensis or chimpanzees (P. troglodytes)—is most closely related to humans based on their skeletal anatomy.

Fun Fact: Lucy is more closely related to humans than she is to chimpanzees! Scientists can tell that she could walk upright based on her femurs that were angled slightly inward and her pelvis that is wider than it is tall.
