Mysteries of Muscle Control Mini Kit In Stock Now

Scientists have assumed that smooth muscle has more simple control systems, but investigations into the structure of smooth muscles and their nerves in birds suggest that the system may be more complex.  NSF awarded a grant to Drs. Hieronymus, Tobalske, and Mulvey to test new ways to measure smooth muscle contraction to learn more about the potential complexity of smooth muscle control systems in birds. This mini-kit & the activities it contains aim to test ways of measuring and manipulating smooth muscle activity to better understand the complexity of the system and how it works. Kit includes history of this NSF grant-funded research and activities to replicate studies conducted in the lab. Can you solve the mysteries of muscle control? This Mini-Kit is intended for grades 8 and up.
